Canton police provide an Incident Report Inquiry system through the city website. This tool lets you look up reports filed by Canton officers. You can also visit the Records Bureau in person during business hours. Bring a valid ID. Written requests can be sent by mail to the same address. Standard copy fees apply under Ohio law, and payment is accepted at the bureau window. Reports contain the date, time, location, names of involved parties, and a narrative of what happened.

The results show detailed case information including all charges, attorney names, judge assignments, and case outcomes. In-person visits are welcome during regular court hours. Mail requests should include the full name, date of birth if known, and a check or money order for copy fees.

Common Pleas Court in Stark County covers the General Division for felony criminal cases, the Domestic Relations Division, and the Juvenile Division. Criminal records from each division are kept separately. The Fifth District Court of Appeals handles any appeals from Stark County criminal cases.

Public Access to Canton Criminal Records

Ohio's Public Records Act makes most criminal records in Canton available to anyone who asks. You do not need to give a reason for your request. The law applies to records held by the police department, the municipal court, and the county clerk.

Some records have restrictions. Active investigation files may be withheld by the Canton Police Department until the case is closed.
