The fee schedule was revised on April 3, 2025, in line with ORC 149.43(B)(1) for video records. Plain paper copies are free for under 40 copies. Beyond 40 pages, it costs $0.05 per page. Digital media costs $1.00 per CD or DVD and $5.00 per flash drive. Video records have a $10.00 overhead cost per set, plus $28.00 per hour for actual processing time, with the maximum allowed under law being $75 per hour and $750 per video.

All fees must be paid before records are sent out. The department may ask for an advance payment for video records and can charge up to 20% more if actual costs exceed the initial estimate. Note: Mentor Police charges no fee for the first 40 pages of plain paper copies, making small record requests essentially free.
Mentor Municipal Court Criminal Records

An online case search is available through the Mentor Municipal Court search page. Current case information is available but may be subject to data retrieval system limits. There can be a delay of at least 24 hours between when a case is filed and when it shows up online. For the most current information, contact the court directly. Felony criminal cases from Mentor do not stay at the municipal level. They transfer to the Lake County Common Pleas Court in Painesville for prosecution.
Public Access to Mentor Criminal Records
Ohio's Public Records Act makes most criminal records open. Under ORC 149.43, you can request police reports, court files, and arrest records without giving a reason. The Mentor Police Department and Municipal Court must provide copies at cost. Walk in during business hours and ask for what you need.
Some records have limits. Juvenile cases are closed under Ohio Revised Code 2151.358. Expunged and sealed records are not available. Active investigations may be withheld until they close. Personal identifiers are redacted from all released documents. Under ORC 2953.32, eligible offenders can apply to seal their Mentor criminal records. The filing fee is about $50 plus local court costs. Violent felonies and sex offenses cannot be sealed in Ohio.
